In my investigation, I learned about the purpose and importance of lighting. First off, lighting is a visual tool to help filmmakers create a mood for a film. For example, bright lighting can create a cheerful mood, while dark lighting creates a more ominous mood. I also learned about some of the lighting techniques. For example, natural lighting is used to mimic real-life and creates a feeling of freedom. Hard lighting which creates shadows and silhouettes. It is used to create a dramatic effect. Soft lighting reduces shadows and is used for emotional scenes.
